Au Pair America > Who Can Apply ?

Taking care of young children requires maturity, hard work and patience. And don't forget, you will also be adapting to a new culture and trying to establish a solid relationship with the parents and children, you will have to overcome the homesickness. It is a real challenge!

You should be sure you are ready to work a full 12 months before committing to the program.

You may become an au pair in America if you:

are between the ages of 18-26 ;
do not smoke
are not married, do not have children or other obligations ;
possess a driver's license (or be ready to get one) ;
enjoy caring for children ;
have at least 200 hours childcare experience (experience with children under the age of 2 is a plus);
have completed secondary school
speak conversational English ;
have no criminal record ;
Are willing to commit to 12 months in the U.S.
Have not previously been an au pair in America ;
